Another top 20 win for the #12 Vikings as they sweep #15 Pensacola State at home
Palatka, FL The #12 SJR State College Vikings defeated #15 Pensacola State College 25-21, 25-22, 25-19 to improve their record to 22-4, 11-1 in conference play.
Set 1
Pensacola led early 8-5 and 11-8 until an ace by Dariana Luna gave the Vikings a 14-13 lead. The teams then traded points until SJR State pulled away, winning 25-21 on an ace by Tara English. Emma West and Luzie Wiedeking each had 4 kills in the opening set.
Set 2
Neither team led by more than 2 points until Pensacola State led 15-11. The Vikings used a 6-2 run to tie the score at 17 and started to pull away, building a 21-18 lead. SJR State was up 24-20 before the Pirates made a couple of plays to get to 22 before Mayya Kucherova ended the set with a kill. Wiedeking continued her offensive success with 6 kills in the set. Dariana Luna had 8 digs to lead SJR State.
Set 3
The Vikings jumped out to a quick lead at 4-0 and continued to stay in front by 2-4 points until the Pirates tied the set at 14 all. A 5 point serving run by Hope Harrington took SJR State from a 19-18 lead to 24-18. The Commodores fought off 1 match point but Cassidy Casey finished the match with an overpass kill. Mayya Kucherova had 6 kills to lead SJR State.

Our home crowd was amazing tonight. The gym was packed and our team fed off of their energy. To have 2 top 15 teams in our gym was exciting. Proud of how our team took care of business in 3 tight sets tonight.
