Bio

Stephanie Champine will be entering her first season at St. Johns River State College, bringing with her a legacy of championship success at the NJCAA level. Known for her ability to develop high-performing programs, Champine has led multiple teams to national prominence in both indoor and beach volleyball.

Prior to joining SJR State, Champine served as the Head Volleyball Coach at Richard Bland College, where she immediately made history. In her first season in 2022, she led an unranked program to a 36-1 overall record, including a perfect 12-0 conference run, resulting in a Region 10 championship and the NJCAA Division II National Championship—the first in program and Region 10 history. Champine received multiple coaching honors, including NJCAA Division II Coach of the Year, NJCAA National Championship Coach of the Tournament, Region 10 Coach of the Year (2022 & 2024), and AVCA Region Coach of the Year. Region 10 accolades were given to all recruits brought to RBC by Champine.  She continued to build on her success, leading Richard Bland to another Region 10 Championship in 2023 and 2024, with national tournament appearances finishing 7th and 9th in the nation.

Beyond indoor volleyball, Champine also built Richard Bland’s beach volleyball program and made it a national contender in just their first year. In just two seasons, she led the program to a 5th-place finish in 2023 and a runner-up finish in 2024 at the NJCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship. Champine has produced four NJCAA Beach All-Americans.

Before her tenure at Richard Bland, Champine was recruited to be the head coach at Terra State Community College, where she rebuilt the program from scratch after a 13-year hiatus. She quickly elevated the program to national prominence, leading the Titans to a 6th-place NJCAA finish in just their second season of postseason eligibility.

Champine has produced eight indoor NJCAA All-Americans, one NJCAA Player of the Year (Karagyn Durco), and five AVCA All-Americans. She has also produced the Region 10 Player of the Year all three years while at RBC (2022, 2023, & 2024) and the Region 12 Player of the Year in 2021.

A highly decorated player in her own right, Champine was a collegiate standout at Austin Peay State University and Owens Community College, earning All-American honors and multiple MVP awards. She is in the Hall of Fame at both colleges. Champine also has her jersey retired at Owens Community College.

At St. Johns River State College, Champine is committed to developing a championship culture, both on the court and in the classroom. Her passion for recruiting, player development, and program building will be instrumental in elevating the Vikings to national prominence.
