Vikings start the season 3-1 in New York

Pre-season ranked #14, the 2022 Vikings started the new season on the road in New Rochelle, New York, earning three wins and one loss.  

In the opening match of the day, the team did not take long to get started against Nassau Community College from New York. Hope Harrington, Tara English and Camryn Deem combined for 7 service aces while Cassidy Casey added three kills, Emma West added 2 more kills.  The Vikings won the match 25-6, 25-4 and 25-6, moving their record to 1-0 for the season.

Match number two was against #22 ranked and tournament host Monroe College.  The first set lived up to the hype of two pre-season ranked programs.  Hope Harrington earned four kills while Katelynn Wright and Cassidy Casey recorded 3 kills.  Setter Julianne Lindsey picked up 12 total assists and defensive specialist Tara English added three aces in the first set.  The Vikings had two opportunities to close the set, but failed to close losing the two-point game, 26-28.  The set two and three scores were 14-25, 20-25.  Lindsey finished with 21 overall assists.  Libero Alina Schneider collected 23 total digs and three assists. English added 14 digs.  Harrington and Cassidy Casey finished with 8 kills each.  Wright added 5 kills and 9 digs.  Emma West tallied 4 kills.

Day two would see the Vikings finish with two wins.  25-9, 25-15, 26-24 against Frederick Community College in Maryland.  The team combined for 39 kills.  Hope Herrington collected 7 kills with no errors.  Cassidy Casey and Kaitlyn Helinsky added 8 kills each.  Setter Julianne Lindsey added 21 assists and 6 digs.  Alina Schneider adds 10 more digs and 2 service aces.  Tara English collected 8 digs and 3 assists.

The final set of the day would see the Vikings battle #10 rank in division three rankings, Raritan Valley Community College from New Jersey.  The team turned on the offense scoring 43 Kills, 10 service aces and 6 total blocks.  Highlights for this match were Julianne Lindsey adding 35 assists and 6 digs.  Hope Harrington scoring 11 kills and 4 service aces.  Brittany Cowart and Emma West added 7 kills.  Katy Vance had 6 kills and 6 digs.  Alina Schneider added 27 digs, 2 assists and 2 service aces.  Camryn Deem tallied 6 digs.
